Wedding Cupcakes

From time to time, I find that I have to step back from my more favorite music posts here and try to offer some ideas in other aspects of wedding planning. In an earlier post, I briefly discussed how I have been seeing how more and more weddings are featuring "wedding cupcakes." Those posts have sent me a number of emails, and I thought it might be nice to share with you what I have seen in this new scrumptious trend.

Have you seen wedding cupcakes yet? This is where very well-decorated cupcakes are stacked in layers in lieu of the actual traditional wedding cake. The tradition of cutting for the bride in groom is not lost, however, as there usually is a small real cut-able cake on the top used for cutting purposes.

Caupcakes are the new rage at many traditional weddings, today. To make cupcakes even more fun, these tasty little wedding cupcakes are often provided in all different flavors to satisfy a wide variety of tastes. It is not uncommon to see people actually eat the wedding desert now, meeting everyone's personal tastes when cupcakes are the featured finish. I have seen such variety as, chocolates, vanillas, marbles, cheesecake, and even my personal favorite cream cheese carrot cakes all offered in one shot. Now there has to be something there you like!

This is a great way to offer different kinds of gourmet cakes and frostings to make everyone happy. I have been to a lot of weddings and it is often safe to say that the traditional cake more times than not gets over looked. Therefore, this new change up is often an idea that is welcomed and "eaten up" by the guests.

This past week I saw a twist to this new idea, as the cupcakes were finely detailed and decorated and actually became part of the theme/decor throughout the hall.

The bride and groom actually had small circular tiers as the center pieces at each one of the guests' dinner tables with the decorated cupcakes placed on them like little wedding cakes. I had never seen this before, but this was kind of neat, in that people could eat the cupcakes whenever they wanted.

Seating Tip For Elderly at Wedding Reception

Just a tip... I know it seems like the best idea to put the elderly up front and close to the action at your wedding reception, but be careful. Do not put them right by the DJ or band set up.

The reason you do not want to make this common mistake is that even though old people tend to not be able to hear, well, the will not react well.

Typically, for some reason, the elederly also have sensitive ears, so loud music will bother them. Ultimately, they will not like the experience and request to have the music turned down, or just leave early.

Keep this in mind when creating your seating charts and everything will turn out fine.

It's best to always put a younger table near the DJ.

Outdoor Wedding Tips

If you remember Hurricane Irene last year hitting us on a busy wedding weekend over the summer, you know that Mother Nature can have a way making, or ruining your special wedding day.

When people plan an outdoor reception, they often do so bringing to the table the “it would never happen to me” attitude. This is not a good practice, no matter how positive thinking-oriented you may be.

In the past two recent years, I have seen some pretty rainy outdoor weddings, of late. While an outdoor wedding can be totally awesome, when the weather does not cooperate, it can be a disaster if you do not have some planning, in order.
